VYSA Workshop
|

February 9 and 10, Richmond Convention Center
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association Workshop is
this Friday and Saturday, February 9
and 10, at the Richmond Convention Center (Google
map).
There will be Workshops for coaches, parents,
administrators, and referees. Each Workshop will
have the common theme of "It Takes Skills to Develop
Talent".

Coach Training
|
|
D, E, F Coach License Training
The Virginia Youth Soccer Association offers
D, E and F coach license courses throughout the
Virginia and
DC Metro area.
F license
The F license is the basic coach class. This 6-hour
class provides information and demonstrations
that allow youngsters to play, learn,
grow, and enjoy soccer in a non-threatening environment.
F

E license
This 18-hour class prepares coaches working with
players U-12 and older by expanding their knowledge
and understanding of the technical and tactical
demands of the game and the development process
necessary for players of these ages.
E

D license class listing:
This 36-hour class is for coaches working with
players 12 years and older. It is the highest level
license that VYSA offers.

ASA Referee Class
|
|
March 26 & 28, and April 7
Harvey Snyder has scheduled his spring ASA referee
class: When:
- Monday and Wednesday, March 26 & 28,
7 -
9:30 PM,
Williamsburg MS
- Saturday, April 7, 10 AM - 12 Noon,
Madison
Community Center
Coaches should encourage parents, older players
(minimum age 13), family, and fellow coaches to
become ASA referees. Please note that
ASA has raised referee pay starting this
season.
- There is no cost for this course.
- ASA referees are "center" referees, not
assistant referees.
- Referees must complete two 2 1/2 hour classroom
sessions and a field practice in order to referee in
5 v 5 ASA games.
- The minimum age is 13.

Player Development Program
|
|
Starts April 9, ends June 4
The ASA skills clinic program for U6-U11 players
this Spring is Mondays, 5:30-7:30 PM, starting April
9th at Bluemont Junction field. There will be eight
sessions.
- Station based training - The field is divided
into stations. Players will rotate among stations.
Emphasis is placed on fundamental skills, game
related enforcement of skills, and small sided play.
- Skills progression - Instructors
introduce new
skills and incorporate them into a challenging and
fun environment. A written summary of the curriculum
will be provided to players and parents.

Travel Soccer Information Night
|
|
February 28, Wednesday, 7:00 - 8:30 pm
An evening with ATSC managers, coaches,
and players from both boys and girls teams. Open
to all soccer players, families and coaches, but
may be most valuable to rising 3rd graders.
Spanish-speaking coaches and players will be
there.

The Arlington Soccer Association has soccer
programs for kids ages 5 – 18 in Arlington and Falls
Church.
- Neighborhood recreational soccer teams
for all boys & girls.
- Teen soccer teams for high school-age
players.
- Travel soccer teams for more competitive
players selected in tryouts.
- TOPSoccer brings the opportunity of
learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, 4 -
19, who has a mental or physical disability.
ASA youth soccer programs are sponsored in
cooperation with the Arlington County
Department of
Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources and the
Falls Church City Recreation & Parks Department.
