As we get closer to the start of the season, I want to notify you of some coming programs.
 
Fall Coaching Clinics - During the season, I will be conducting practice sessions that all ASA coaches can observe, receive handouts and discuss the activities.
 
Rules Update - there will be a few minor changes to the playing rules for the fall season.  The ASA is also looking at all of our rules for future improvements.
 
Under 6 Opening Day - demonstrations, information and games!  Watch for more information about this event to open the 2007 season.
 
Player Development Clinics - Weekly training sessions! Look for details coming soon about this exciting opportunity for players.
 
More information on all this, and more, will be coming to you soon.

ASA Coaches Meeting
Important Information for All Coaches
 
If you will be coaching a team this season for the ASA, you will want to attend this meeting!
 
When:  Tuesday, September 11    7:00pm
Where: Kenmore Middle School
Who:  All ASA Coaches
What:  An informational meeting for all ASA Coaches.  Coming events will be presented, player clinics will be conducted, rules will be discussed and information for the 2007 Fall season will be handed out.
 

 Arlington Summer Soccer Program
Pick up games for kids of all ages!

The Summer Soccer program is off to a great start!  Coaches - encourage your players to come out and get in on the fun.

Summer Soccer is "organized fun" for the players.  The supervisors set up fields, organize the players - and then let them play and have fun!
 
Summer Soccer is open to all Arlington boys and girls who want to play.  It is not limited to players who have played on teams before. 

And it's free!

    3:30 - 5:00  u7 - u10 Players (Coed)
    5:00 - 6:30  u10 - u14 Players (Coed)
    6:30 - 8:00  u15 - u19 Players (Girls only)

Referee Clinic
Fall 2007 Certification Clinic
September 5, 6 & 8, 2007

This class certifies you to officiate Arlington Soccer Association 5 v 5 recreational play for U8, U9, and U10.

  • Players, coaches, parents and others are welcome.
  • Attendance is required both evenings and Saturday field practice.
  • This 5-hour class is free.
  • Minimum age is 13.  No maximum.
  • You must pre-register so that enough materials are available.

Beckham's Arrival
Coaches Symposium

DC United
Watch for ASA players escorting the players of DC United and the LA Galaxy (including David Beckham!) on to the field on August 9.
Special thanks to Bob Waffle, the ASA liason to DC United for arranging (and selling out in 24 hours) these opportunities!
 
DC United will also be conducting a Coaches Symposium on Aug 6 - 10.  The program will be hosted by United in conjunction with Brazil's Clube Atletico Mineiro. The five-day event has been structured to provide coaches with instruction and insight into the development of the young soccer player from the U-12 to U-16 and professional level.
 
The $145 option includes an upper level ticket for the August 9 match-up. Interested parties may register for the Symposium at: www.dcunited.com
