D.C. United
Ball Kids for U14+ |
|
Be on the field. Be
part of the game.
DC
United is seeking a team to do Ball Kids this
Sunday, June 10, at 1:00 p.m., DC United vs Red
Bulls.
They need a Balls Kids
team, so the usual 50-ticket commitment will be
relaxed (somewhat).
This is a
great opportunity for older teams (U14 - U19) to
have a perfect end-of-season party.
Players will:
- Be on the field as part of a professional
soccer game.
- Get a free T-shirt.
- Have a box lunch.
- Have lots of fun.
Contact Robert
Waffle (703.358.9448, 703.966.3672 or rwaffle@comcast.net) or Ben
Hawkins at DC UNITED (703.587.5422).
This
opportunity will go quickly

Put ASA's Columbus Day
Recreational Tournament on your calendars
-- Oct 6 & 7 -- for the Fall Season.
Our first tournament was great fun for
recreational players. We plan for the
tournamet to be even better this year, as we add
teams from neighboring soccer
associations.
The success of the
Tournament depends on volunteers.
- Please volunteer your help.
- Talk to your team families about taking on a
small task.
Contact
Tournament Coordinator Robert Waffle
(703.358.9448, 703.966.3672, or rwaffle@comcast.net to
volunteer or ask for more
information.
PS: Tournament medals
are still available for teams that did not pick
them up last year. Contact Robert Waffle
to pick them
up.

Fund
Raising for ASA |
|
ASA seeks fund raising
expertise
The
Arlington Soccer Association provides high
quality soccer at a low cost to Arlington and
Falls Church kids.
We need a volunteer to
help us raise funds to improve our programs and
services.
- Do you or a member of your team's families
have fund raising experience who can advise
us?
Please ask them to contact ASA
President Steve Spangler (703 536 5457, stevespangler@arlingtonsoccer.com)
or any one of the ASA Board members (board@arlingtonsoccer.com).

Equipment
Exchange |
|
By Robert
Waffle
For several
years, I have coordinated an equipment exchange
program within the Lightning Club.
I started the program when I
noticed that my own children out-grew their
cleats long before the cleats wore out.
Clearly shoes -- and other soccer items -- could
be put to use by others.
Subsequently, more than 150 pair of
gently used cleats, shin guards, and shorts have
been re-cycled through the Lightning Equipment
Exchange program.
I am now handing over
this effort to my daughter, Gillian, as her
service project.
 Gillian would like to make
the program available to all ASA clubs.
(We have heard that there may be similar efforts
in other clubs - we would be happy to
coordinate.) Gillian
will house and maintain the inventory.
She will make them available to
coaches/managers on an individual basis to take
to practices or other gatherings to give their
families a chance to see what's available and/or
to add to the collection. She would also
be happy to have parents come by to
drop-off/pick-up (on a limited basis
please).
- Please tell your families about this
program.
- They can give to extend the life of their
equipment.
- They can benefit from some gently-used
equipment.
Contact Robert or
Gillian Waffle (703.358.9448 or 703.966.3672 or
rwaffle@comcast.net) if you
have any questions or if you need any additional
information.
Thanks
