Coaching Philosophy

John coaches and trains an aggressive offensive and defensive, tactical and technical style of play.  John believes that at all age levels, the game of Soccer should be played for the fun and enjoyment of the Wonderful Game!

Coaching Licenses

John has a USSF B license, several National Coaching Certifications and has coached and trained many different levels of club soccer in both NJ and Virginia, including many NCSL and WAGS Division 1 teams.

Coaching Experience / Playing Experience / Honors &Awards

He has coached several teams for the Travel side of the Arlington Soccer Association including the former Arlington Intensity Red Girls, the Arlington Pride Girls, the Arlington Fury Girls, the Arlington Action Boys and The Arlington United Boys. He was the Assistant Head Boys Coach at Bishop O’Connell for 10 years.

He is the current Head Varsity Coach at WT Woodson High School in FCPS, where he currently teaches and is a specialist for the learning and emotionally disabled. John has coached a Virginia State Championship team and a VA State runner-up team as well as several District championship teams.

John played soccer in the 1960’s and 1970’s for the Kearny Men’s Soccer Club in NJ, and he played College soccer at UVA and High School soccer at Seton Hall Prep.

He has been the director of soccer camps and clinic organizations and has been involved in groups that provide college counseling to student-athletes, particularly to soccer players who aspire to play on the college level. Currently, 3 former players who he trained are playing in the MLS and many are playing in Colleges and Universities, including at Wake Forest, Penn State, Georgetown, JMU,  William and Mary, Catholic, WVU, Randolph, Longwood,  Towson  State, Mary Washington and Marymount.
