2002 Boys Red are National Championship Finalists, Lose 1-0 in Final

OVERLAND PARK, KS, July 28, 2019. BREAKING NEWS: The Arlington Soccer ’02 Boys Red Team’s (ARL) bid for its second US Youth Soccer National Championship in two years fell short with a one-goal loss to Solar ‘02 Castro-TX. 

ARL surrendered only its second goal of championship week when Solar scored in the 61st minute of the finals to take a 1-0 lead. Although ARL continued to push the ball forward in the final 20 minutes of the match, Solar held on to its lead and thwarted ARL’s back-to-back effort.

ARL played very well throughout the week scoring 7 goals while giving up only 2 goals. As national runners-up, ARL completed the week with a 3-1-1 record. 

On the way to its second national championship match in two years, ARL finished preliminary round play with a first-place finish in Group B posting a 2-0-1 record with 7 points. In the national semifinals, ARL defeated Baltimore Celtic 2-0.
