As the Arlington Soccer 03/02 Boys Academy team wraps up another stellar year, we reflect on 3 years of great milestones and memories with this historic team.
In 2019, the 02 Boys Red team won the State Cup and qualified for Nationals by winning the National League that year in St. Louis. In the USYS National Championships, they advanced to the finals after racking up 3 wins and a tie.
In 2020, the team succesfully repeated their path to USYS National Championships by winning State Cup. They also attracted notice from the USYS as they were chosen for "Standout Team of the Decade". This honor paying tribute to all the hard work the boys had put day in and day out.
The team just wrapped up their 2021 season with another trip to the USYS National Championships - - their 3rd consecutive trip. This time, the team included 9 players from the 2004 team demonstrating the depth of the Arlington Soccer program.
Coach Eduardo Souza has led the team through all these success, and shares, "I am very proud of the this year's achievements. Our team won the State Cup, the Eastern Regionals Championship, and made the Elite 8 Best Teams in the country at the USYS National Championship. The high flight of the program is the placement of 5 players in Divison 1 of the NCAA, 1 player in Division 2, and 5 in the Division 3. Our future looks bright as we have 9 players in the 04 group playing 2 ages up during our Regionals and Nationals campagin."
"I am extremely proud of the accomplishments of this team - winning the VYSA State Cup, Eastern Regional Chmpionship and competing for the National Championship. Despite coming up short in the National Championship, this team overachieved during the run to the championship with 9 younger players from the 2004 age group. This team is the epitome of how we have envisioned our club working together for a number of years. We believe in and are transforming to a 'one club' model in which players, parents, teams, staff and coaches work together to accomplish a greater goal", stated German Peri, Arlington Soccer' Technical Director.
Congratulations, 03/02 Boys Academy! We are excited for your futures!
