The Senior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of Arlington Soccer Association. This role ensures accurate and timely management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, reconciliations, supporting audits, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements. This position is responsible for maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Executive Director, COO, Accounting Assistant, Treasurer, and Finance Committee to support the club’s fiscal health and long-term sustainability.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Accounting Assistant
  • Manage the monthly close process including reconciling bank accounts, prepare month end journal entries and preparing the monthly financial statement package.
  • Review and approve Financial Aid requests in accordance with Club Policies
  • Work with stakeholders on hiring and termination process to ensure Paychex HRIS is up to date with current salary information.
  • Prepare the bi-weekly payroll in Paychex.
  • Respond to vendor, sponsor, and parent inquiries related to billing or payments.
  • Department expert in Club registration system running reports and preparing analytics for participation and other metrics.
  • Audit Support: Gather necessary data and documentation for internal and external audit teams and 990 tax filing. Respond to auditor inquiries and help implement audit recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience (nonprofit experience strongly preferred).
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks (or comparable accounting software), Excel, and payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for youth sports, community development, or nonprofit mission-driven work a plus.
  • CPA license preferred
