APRIL 2025
Congratulations to Lanier Hutton of the 2011 Girls Black Team on being named the Pitch Invaders Player of the month for April!
Now in her second year with the 2011G Black team, Lanier Hutton continues to grow into a leader who leads by example. Although Katharine is her official first name, Lanier confidently goes by the name she feels best represents her—and that quiet confidence shines through in her play.
What truly sets Lanier apart is the effort she puts in outside of team training. She can often be found at the local soccer field practicing her dribbling, shooting, and crossing—all on her own initiative. She also dedicates time to training on the Techne Futbol app, staying focused on her goals and continuously working to elevate her game.
Coach Aleksander said the following:
“Lanier has been an outstanding presence both on and off the field. Her dedication to the game, consistent hard work, and positive attitude have made her a role model for her teammates. She leads not by words alone, but through her actions—whether it’s pushing herself during training or staying after practice to get extra reps in. Lanier’s commitment to personal growth and her love for the game are truly inspiring."
Director of Coaching Mo Tayari said:
“We enjoy having players like Lanier in the program—players who are self-driven and lead by example. Her mindset and commitment to development represent the kind of culture we aim to build.”
JANUARY 2025
Congrats to Matthew McInnis of 2010 Boys Red on being named the Pitch Invaders Player of the Month for the month of January!
McInnis is an honor roll student at West Springfield High School, excelling in advanced coursework, including special projects in biology and world history. He has also been an active member of the school choir and orchestra, where he plays the viola.
Outside of school, Matthew gives back to his community through service projects as a youth church member of Alfred Street Baptist Church. Most recently, he helped pack 30,000 dry meal kits for donation to war-torn countries. He also tutors his younger sibling and classmates in math and reading.
“Mathew’s exceptional work rate, unwavering discipline and commitment to his development set him apart," 2010 Boys Red coach Khaled Hamami said. "He consistently puts the team first, always ready to lend a hand to teammates and even other teams when needed. His selflessness, determination, and support for those around him make him not only a great player but an incredible teammate and leader. Matthew embodies the values we strive for—on and off the field.”
On the field, Matthew has been a standout player for the Virginia Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the past three years, representing district, state, regional, and international teams. He also earned MVP honors as he helped the 2010 Boys Red win the 2024 State Cup in November.
“A player’s character is just as important as their talent and Matthew exemplifies both in every aspect of his life," Director of Coaching Mo Tayari said. "He continues to inspire those around him and leads by example.”

Congrats to Felicity Chubb of 2014 Girls Red on being named the Pitch Invaders Player of the Month for the month of November!
Chubb is currently coached by TJ White and was previously coached by Amy Anderson for two years. Both coaches love her positive personality and enjoy coaching her. Known for her hard work, leadership and positivity, Chubb excels in goalkeeping, especially with penalty kicks.
Off the field, Felicity swims for Overlee and York swim clubs and is active in student government at Nottingham Elementary School, where she organized and led a fundraiser bake sale to benefit the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation.
"Felicity is a great young player, brave to play goalkeeper at age 9," Director of Coaching Mo Tayari said. "We love her approach to the game—her happy, friendly, and fearless attitude makes her willing to step up and play with any team, always taking every opportunity to improve."
