WHY FUTSAL

WHAT IS FUTSAL? 

Futsal is a high paced, energetic, intense, fast flowing game played 5v5 on a hard court surface without side walls. 

WHY PARTICIPATE IN ARLINGTON’S ELITE FUTSAL PROGRAM?

  • PLAYER DEVELOPMENT- Improve your game in the off season.  Learn a new fast paced game that requires you to control the ball in tight spaces which will help to improve technical skills and decision making.
  • PROFESSIONAL COACHES-A highly educated, professional and passionate coaching and technical staff.
  • FUN-Each Futsal player has the chance to compete in FUN and exciting training sessions, league games and tournament play.

Yes.

WHEN ARE ELITE FUTSAL TRYOUTS? 

Tryouts for the EF program will be held on the following dates:

  • Tryout 1:  Week of October 16-20
  • Tryout 2:  Week of October 23-27

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE ELITE FUTSAL PROGRAM? 

ALL Players Born 2015-2005*

*Players who are currently playing travel soccer and born in 2016 should reach out to gradyrenfrow@arlingtonsoccer.com so the staff can review and assist with registration.

WHEN IS THE ELITE FUTSAL PROGRAM? 

The season will run from early December through late February. 

PROGRAM-SPECIFIC INFORMATION

WHAT TOURNAMENTS WILL ELITE FUTSAL COMPETE IN? 

Elite Futsal teams will compete in local tournaments during the winter futsal season. State and regional competitions are typically held between January and February. In the event Elite Futsal teams qualify through regional competitions, teams may have the opportunity to compete for national championships. Each team will compete in 2-3 of the following tournaments:

  • Jefferson Open (Richmond, VA)
  • Virginia State Championship - Virginia Youth Soccer Association
  • Virginia State Cup - United States Youth Futsal
  • Mid-Atlantic Regionals (Richmond, VA) - United States Youth Futsal
  • Atlantic Regionals @Spooky Nook (Manheim, PA) - United States Youth Futsal 
  • Northeast Regionals (Atlantic City, NJ) - United States Futsal Federation
  • Futsal Cup (Alexandria, VA)

WHAT LOCAL LEAGUE WILL ELITE FUTSAL COMPETE IN?

Elite Futsal teams (i.e., all teams and all age groups) are anticipated to compete in a local Futsal League. See details (more to come):

  • Multiple divisions in each age group to allow for appropriate level of competition
  • Game locations: Alexandria, DC, Southern Maryland
  • Note: Some games may be played on hard court or turf surfaces outdoors
  • Note: Some teams may compete in an Arlington run league

WHEN IS ELITE FUTSAL TRAINING? 

Elite Futsal training will take place two times during the week between December and February.

 

WHERE WILL ELITE FUTSAL TRAINING TAKE PLACE? 

Most sessions will be held at the Congressional School and Arlington Public Schools.  There may be times when indoor courts are unavailable and Elite Futsal training will take place on outdoor courts or fields.

DOES THIS CHANGE FUTSAL PROGRAMMING THAT PREVIOUSLY EXISTED?

No. Since the Elite Futsal program is intended to be a separate program offering, there are no changes to other futsal programming that previously existed (e.g., First Touch Futsal). 

All U9 - U12 travel teams in Arlington will continue to play in the First Touch Futsal League this winter. Players who are selected for the Elite team are expected to continue with all travel team commitments as well as Elite Futsal training and competitions. The Club will continuously work to avoid scheduling conflicts, including practices and games (except tournaments).

$825-$875 Per Player (age dependent)

WHAT DOES THE FUTSAL PLAYER FEE COVER? 

  • Training, League Play & Tournament(s) 
  • Training 2x per week ~24 training sessions
